Another client talked to me this week about adding a blog to their site.

Most clients struggle to come up with enough information for a five-page website. It can take weeks for them to write a few paragraphs about their business — in fact, most often I interview them and then write-up the pages for them. That’s part of my marketing service, and I enjoy doing it.

But, when the owner then wants to add a blog to their site, I struggle to come up with a helpful and non-volatile response!

This week’s request came from a woman who did write the copy for her site and regularly updates it — so it wasn’t a crazy idea by any means. But, she is also very cost conscious and non-geeky. And, under time pressure whenever I talk with her.

I suggested that she look at free blogging sites, start her blog, and then we’ll talk after she’s maintained it for a month. After re-surveying the blogging options available, I recommended that she consider Blogger and WordPress.com.

She started looking into WordPress.com as the leading choice. So, I bit the bullet and decided to start my own WordPress.com hosted business blog so I could help with questions and techy issues. I gotta admit I like the look and feel of the posts, and I like the administrative features.
