Roger Ebert has gone all out praising Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth in Ebert’s Chicago Sun-Times column. I have been vaguely aware of the documentary and put it on my “kinda want to see it” list. Ebert’s mention of it makes me bump it up to “will see”.
“In 39 years, I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this film“, says Ebert. Powerful enough to catch my attention.
What really grabbed me? The frothing hate comments heaped upon Ebert, liberals, and anyone not drinking the no-nothing Kool-Aid at the digg.com website. (Digg.com is news website where users submit stories for review, but rather than allow an editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users do by voting. People post comments there, too. I discovered the site just recently.)
People there pounced with rapid rabid enthusiasm, attacking Gore and the other whiny liberals. And, there are counter-attacks, counter-counter-attacks, and more ideologically-based “facts”. (Gawd! I do we have to argue facts? )
At the very least it makes me want to see the movie that works people up so.
