Kids filled Ashland’s North Mountain Park to celebrate Earth Day this afternoon. There were lots of children-accessible hands-on activities focused on the environment and eco-friendly ways of living.
I remember the first Earth Day which was filled with urgency and a ’60’s sense of sea change.
Today’s celebration was a good mutation of the original. More festive and no urgency. But, when the fair grounds are crowded with plain folk and there are companies vying for green accolades, attention, and consumer dollars it feels that some of the sea may actually have moved.
